The news is out—Kontent.ai, originally a division of Kentico, has established itself as a separate company. This allows Kentico Xperience to return to its roots and refresh its name to Kentico. The last 18 years have seen us grow and evolve in so many ways. We started with a content management system (CMS) back in 2004 and have since created two products to meet the needs of the market—one award-winning digital experience platform (DXP) with content management, digital marketing, and commerce capabilities, and one headless CMS.
To allow us to focus on our two products, back in May 2020, we split our company into two divisions; Kentico Xperience (DXP) and Kontent by Kentico (headless CMS).
Today, Kontent by Kentico announced that they raised an investment of $40 million from Expedition Growth Capital and became a standalone enterprise. Now Kontent.ai, which originally started in 2015 as an internal startup within Kentico, will operate as a separate company, focused on targeting high-level enterprise organizations.
With the carve-out of Kontent.ai, we can truly focus on our DXP offering. It means that 100% of our profit can now be fully reinvested in innovating our digital experience platform. On top of that, the Kentico Xperience division can leverage the longevity and history of the Kentico brand and return to its roots. From today, Kentico Xperience is refreshing its name to Kentico.
And that’s not all. Petr Palas, the founder of Kentico, has moved to the position of Chairman of the Board for both companies and our newly formed board has appointed me, Dominik Pinter, as Chief Executive Officer of Kentico.

And it’s crystal clear that we need to do this to deliver a top-notch, future-proof cloud-native flexible DXP to all our valued customers and partners, that will enable you to deliver unrivaled digital experiences and grow your digital experience maturity faster than ever.
Providing you with best-of-breed technology that accelerates your growth and boosts your confidence in strengthening your online presence is what’s driving the development of our market-leading DXP. And from now on, we will push even harder. With this new stage, we’re in a strong position to apply our laser-like focus to our customers, and our customers alone.
The investment that we as a company were putting into the Kontent by Kentico division will be redirected straight into the DXP you love. With heavy investment in product development, we’ve got an exciting journey ahead. We plan to hire at least 60 more people over the next 12 months to join our 160+ strong global team.
As well as the additional investment that Kentico gains from the carve-out of Kontent, we have also received committed capital of $20 million from Expedition Growth Capital, which will facilitate future growth and the scalability of our company.
What’s on the horizon for Kentico now?
Recently, we shared the exciting news that alongside the continued investment in our flagship Kentico Xperience 13, we’re also developing a new cloud-native, flexible DXP—Xperience by Kentico. To enable early access to this new platform, we’ve launched a new program for select customers, the Xperience Adopters Program, through which you can get your hands on the SaaS product and help shape its future.
Xperience by Kentico is built as a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform, leveraging Microsoft Azure infrastructure, security, management, and monitoring services to meet the exacting needs of our customers and partners. By joining the program, you’ll be able to contribute to the exciting journey towards hybrid headless.
Plus, it’s all wrapped up in a brand new, user-friendly, user interface (UI) and embracing the low-code/no-code approach. This way, marketers and content creators can enjoy more agility in delivering top-notch marketing assets and launching winning campaigns, with little to no help from developers. Leveraging cutting-edge technology, Xperience by Kentico is an ultimate way to create and deliver seamless, highly personalized digital experiences easier and faster, and boost your business growth.
