Using ASP.NET 2.0 AJAX Extensions 1.0 in a Kentico CMS web site

This article explains how to configure Kentico CMS web site project for use with ASP.NET 2.0 AJAX Extensions 1.0. You can use it for later versions when they're released as well, but you will need to use different settings used by the newer versions of AJAX Extensions.

Applies to: Kentico CMS 2.1c - only with ASPX templates. AJAX with portal engine templates will be supported in version 2.1d.

1) Create a separate AJAX-enabled web site. You need to do that just to get all the configuration settings for the AJAX from web.config file. The AJAX Extensions 1.0 web.config settings look like these:

<configSections>

<sectionGroup name="system.web.extensions" type="System.Web.Configuration.SystemWebExtensionsSectionGroup, System.Web.Extensions, Version=1.0.61025.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35">

<sectionGroup name="scripting" type="System.Web.Configuration.ScriptingSectionGroup, System.Web.Extensions, Version=1.0.61025.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35">
